What is a flange?

Flange, or flange (English: Flange), refers to the symmetrical disk-shaped structure used to connect pipes, vessels or fixed shaft mechanical parts, usually with bolts and threaded structures for fixation. It comes from the English word "flange".
Connection mode
Flange connection is to fix two pipes, pipe fittings or equipment on a flange plate respectively, add flange gasket between the two flanges, and fasten them together with bolts to complete the connection. Some pipe fittings and equipment have their own flanges, which also belong to flange connection. Flange connection is an important connection method for pipeline construction. The flange connection is easy to use and can withstand large pressure.
In industrial pipelines and in families, the pipe diameter is small, and it is low pressure, and flange connection is invisible. In a boiler room or production site, there are pipes and equipment connected by flanges everywhere.

According to the connection method, the flange connection types can be divided into: plate type flat welding flange, neck flat welding flange, neck butt welding flange, socket welding flange, threaded flange, flange cover, neck butt welding ring loose flange, flat welding ring loose flange, ring groove face flange and flange cover, large diameter flat flange, large diameter high neck flange, splay blind flange, butt welding ring loose flange, etc.
Compact flange
With the increase of the size of Compact flange, it becomes relatively heavier and more complex, resulting in high procurement, installation and maintenance costs. Large flange diameter is particularly difficult to use, and inevitably requires more space and has more challenging handling and installation procedures, especially for remote installation of oil drilling platforms.
The flange face design includes two independent seals. The first seal is produced by applying seal seat stress at the root of the flange, but it is necessary to ensure that the function of the seal is not achieved overnight.
In theory, heel contact will remain unchanged at a pressure of up to 1.8 times the flange rating at room temperature.
Theoretically, for all allowable load levels designed for use, the flange also maintains contact at the flange face along its outer circumference.
